About me

Welcome
My name is Amélie Deltour, aka Pomélo, and I am adopted from Toulouse.
I've always loved drawing! The proof in pictures:

✏︎ Drawing, painting, cutting, mixing colors: it's part of me, as if it were written in my DNA. Sometimes I go on vacation and don't take a pencil or a notebook. And I admit that I feel that sense of lack that we have when we are addicted to something... (like chocolate or pasta). But it's also in these moments that ideas flow. The little spark that creeps into a corner of my head and waits to be applied to paper or another medium. Creating flowers, drawing a bird, it calms me a lot.

✏︎ Being an artist is difficult. Creating is not enough. If I want to make a living from it, I have to think about taking beautiful photos, creating an attractive website and social media account, managing to set consistent prices (do you know the imposter syndrome? Or that desire to give instead of selling?), I have to approach boutiques, resellers, I have to spend hours in designer markets, often in the cold, sometimes selling very little. Applying to markets and not being selected. I have to pay URSSAF, do my accounting, administrative procedures, etc. Manage the stress at the end of the month. Morale is like a roller coaster: it can be very high and suddenly drop!

✏︎ Recently, I did a skills assessment because I wanted to find a job that would suit me and in which I could flourish. A salaried job that would give me financial security. When I was asked "if you had all the skills, knowledge and money to do your dream job, what would that job be ?" I didn't think about it for very long! I want to be the artist I am today with more visibility and success. I will get there! (I'm quite stubborn). You who are reading me, if you like my world, spread the word!

✏︎ In high school, I took the Visual Arts option. I painted my shoes and I never dressed in black. Then I chose to study Modern Art History and I obtained my Master 2 degree. I loved those years of study and I fell in love with Italy and its heritage. So, with my diploma in hand, I decided to realize my dream: to go and live in Rome! I saw everything I wanted to see and discover, I sold ice cream to pay my rent, I learned the language, visited a few Italian cities and then I returned to Toulouse because I was missing something: my studio!
When I returned to Toulouse, I created my workshop which has continued to grow!

✏︎ Today I live in my studio and spend all my time there! I love birds, colors, creating, sending postcards and mixing it all together. I like to put color everywhere!
For several years my artistic universe has diversified into different media/techniques... I paint on porcelain, paper flowers, birth gifts, or even digital and original illustrations.

My goal? To conquer the world!

If you want to know more about me, my blog posts will tell you a little more!

I hope you like my world!
